FOOD PANTRY MONTH!

The Hunger Fund

February is Food Pantry Month!

Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.” ~~John Wesley

In addition to supporting St. Paul’s UMC Food Pantry with groceries donated by our parishioners, we also send them monetary contributions.  If you would like to do this, either on a one-time-only basis or as part of your regular contributions, you can add this easily to your pledge check (specify the amount on the memo line), or  write a check to St Mark’s for the Hunger Fund/Food Pantry.  You can also put cash in a specially-marked envelope. These donations are sent to St. Paul’s quarterly, and are noted on your contribution sheet. Even a few dollars on a monthly basis will help!

Bring in groceries! — This month they especially need  canned fruit, beans, meat, veggies, and soups; cereal , oatmeal, pancake mix, & syrup;  jam, jelly, & peanut butter; rice, sloppy joe sauce, saltines, &  pasta; drink mixes & hot chocolate; dish soap, lotion, & toothpaste.

Give a monetary donation — Every penny helps! You can do this on a one-time basis, or make a monthly/quarterly contribution.  If you’d like to continue providing groceries–that’s great! But this is another option for those who would like to contribute, but for whom bringing in extra bags to church can be difficult.  Either way, we (and St. Paul’s) thank you for your continuing generosity.

SPICE IT UP! — We provide LOTS of groceries that St. Paul’s Pantry needs — boxed and canned items that can be stored for a long while if necessary.  What would help cooks make the best meals possible  with those pantry items?

How about some jarred spices?  This month we’re asking you to SPICE IT UP by providing dried spices,  any kind, any brand,  any quantity. There is a box in the Narthex for spices– let’s see if we can fill it!

Help us to help our neighbors in need!
