St. Mark’s Adult Forum Easter 2011

Throughout the month of May, we will explore the scripture readings for each Sunday: readings which speak of the new life of the resurrection.

Wednesday sessions take place from 11:00 until 11:45; and Sunday sessions, from 9:30 until 10:10. All of them are in the Lounge. While we will meet each Wednesday, we will not gather on Sunday, May 15, as we will be at St. Margaret’s.

Combined Services
with St. Margaret’s
This Sunday, May 15
at 10:30am,
we will join St. Margaret’s at
5301 Free Pike in Trotwood.

To get to St. Margaret’s, take U.S. 35 west 13.5 miles from Woodman Drive. (When you pass W. Third St., the highway changes names from “U.S. 35” to “State Route 49” — just stay on the highway.) St. Margaret’s is located at the corner of St. Rt. 49 and Free Pike. Turn right on Free Pike, then left into their parking lot.

Flower Sunday
May 8

Everyone is invited to bring a flower to church. During the service, all will be invited to bring their flower forward and, with the help of our acolyte, will place the flowers into the holes in our large wooden cross. That cross will gradually burst forth in life, as a beautiful sign of our resurrection in Christ.

We will also use this service as an opportunity to take a PARISH PORTRAIT. So come dressed in your best
and be a part of our St. Mark’s Family picture!

St. Mark’s Adult Forum

This year’s gospel readings for Lent include four marvelous stories that the church has, for centuries, considered to be ideal narratives for reflection on baptism and on our new life in Christ.

On five successive Wednesdays, (beginning March 16) and Sundays (beginning March 20), Mike Kreutzer will lead us in exploring these narratives, all from the gospel according to John, along with John’s unique approach to the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Wednesday sessions are from 11:00 — 11:50 a.m. in the lounge. Sunday sessions are from 9:30 — 10:10 a.m. in the Conference Room.

Dayton Deanery Lenten Series

Episcopal churches are reaching out in extraordinary ways to serve the poor in our midst. This Lent, join us to reflect on how we can offer hope in the midst of despair.

We will hear stories about those who are wresting with poverty and about how the church is responding . We will reflect on Scripture and ask what our faith teaches about the poor.

We will pray together as we listen to how God is inviting us to deepen our commitment to ministry in the Miami Valley.

The Lenten Series will be held on five Tuesday nights during Lent. The program will begin with prayer and a simple soup supper from 6:00 – 6:45 pm. The study program including speakers and small group discussions will be from 6:45 – 8:00 pm.

this special Lenten pilgrimage!
