Sports Archives – 2001

For many years, St. Mark’s has fielded some very fine SOFTBALL TEAMS.  This year was no exception.  As we continue to build our web site, more information about the team’s performance and (we hope) some “action photos” of the team’s players will be included.  But for now, here’s a listing of their stats for the 2001 season as compiled by our own John Webster.  As most of you are aware, we finished with a 10-2 season, good enough for a  shared second place trophy.  First place went to Chuck Hammond’s House of God team (11-1) and we were tied with General Baptist (also with a 10-2 season).  In the tournament, we ended up as co-champions along with House of God as unfortunately, the championship game was rained out and being so late in the season, there was no time left to re-schedule another game.

By the way, many thanks for team operations and success need to go to Tracy Hall (manager), John Webster (co-commander, scorekeeper, chief statistician, etc.), and Vince Shields (League Commissioner).
